Peel Forest Holiday Program

FOR FAMILIES

Saturday 5th-6th October

Waimakariri Overnight Raft Trip (Students 8 years and above)                          Cost: $180

This is a chance to raft the beautiful Waimak gorge – the famous Coast to Coast section from Mt White bridge to Woodstock. This is a grade 2 section which is a great journey and would be suitable for families as well. There are some beautiful sites to camp out in the gorge, where you can cook around a campfire, roast marsh-mellows and have a shared family adventure. Tents/rafting gear is provided.

Meeting us at Peel Forest Outdoor Centre – Transport included. Bring your own food.

Timeframes: 8am Saturday, arriving back by around 5pm Sunday (weather dependent)

Minimum numbers: 12 people, students under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult


FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

October 9th– 11th 2019, 9am-3.30pm daily

Wednesday 9th

Raft building adventure (Students 8 years and above)                                          Cost: $40

We will spend the day at the Orari river where students will learn how to tie some knots, construct their own raft to travel across a small pond, and learn the art of throw bagging and raft flipping. Come prepared to get wet!!

Minimum numbers: 10 students

Thursday 10th

Emily Falls Walk/Abseil (Students 8 years and above)                                                        Cost: $50

Based in Peel forest scenic reserve, the student start by bushwalking in to the waterfall, learning about the environment along the way. On arrival the students will learn how to abseil and then have a go at abseiling off the waterfall.

Minimum numbers: 10 students

Friday 11th

Gearing up to “Go Bush” (Students 8 years and above)                                                    Cost: $30

We will spend the day getting creative with bush equipment. Learn how to make a simple pack with a tarp, wood and string and use this to explore around Clarke Flat. Bring along a small empty tuna can and learn how to make your own cooker.  Bring something to cook on your own cooker, e.g. pre-cooked sausages and bread, hot chocolate, marsh-mellows damper or you decide.  We will supply some pots and pans if you bring your own eating utensils.

Minimum numbers: 10 students

Transport will be made available daily from Geraldine meeting at Kennedy park gate by Geraldine High school. The bus will leave at 8.30am and arrive back at 4pm daily. It will be an additional charge of $5 per day for transportation per student.
