Start and finish at the Peel Forest Outdoors Centre base located 20 minutes outside of Geraldine.

Programme Overview:
A course aimed at teaching or improving bush navigation and bushcraft skills.
Appropriate for recreational trampers, hunters, or those training for adventure-race/ or rogaine style events. The course will cover
Navigation Skills
- Reading Topo50 maps, features and contours
- Map orientation
- Taking a bearing
- Following a bearing/route-finding
- Distances and walking time approximations
- Using GPS
Bushcraft
- What to pack and how to pack it
- Giving intentions and emergency communication methods
- Weather forecasts
Accomodation
1 night of accommodation at the Peel Forest Cabins.
Huatakerekere & Tarahaoa Cabins, named after the peaks of the Tarahaoa Range, are two self-contained cabins, sleeping eight and ten respectively. Each cabin is a simple open plan with separate toilet room and bathroom. They feature solar power, solar water heating backed up with a wetback fire, basic gas cooking facilities, BBQ, a solar-heated shower, and composting toilets.
Food
Bring food for 2 nights and 2 days. Lots of hearty snacks and a packed lunch for during the day.
