Who we are

Peel Forest Outdoor Centre is a non-profit organisation that provides adventurous outdoor activities designed to empower, educate and inspire young people in a challenging and safe environment.

Our team of qualified instructors are highly trained with NZRA and NZOIA qualifications and are dedicated to ensuring you have a quality outdoor experience truly memorable.

Safety

Life is full of hazards, when adventuring and learning in the outdoors we are choosing to go place where there are hazards that, for many, are outside of the norm.

Activities

We offer a large range of programmes and we specialise in custom designed programmes with a large range of land and water based activities and learning outcomes chosen to suit each individual or group.

Courses and Programmes

We are a diverse centre – though the river is close to our heart and often what we are known for. We offer a large range of programmes. We specialise in custom designed programmes with activities and learning outcomes chosen to suit each individual or group.

Outdoor Skills

We offer high-quality courses in a number of disciplines including rock, kayak, alpine and bush.

Youth

Young people are at the heart of what we do. We offer a range of courses and programmes for all ages.

Hauroa & Team Development

We train groups wanting to develop their teamwork and leadership skills.

Schools and Groups

By working by the motto “Challenge by Choice,” we aim to create a fun and safe environment where people can step out of their comfort zone, push themselves and learn about working with others through effective teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Women’s Adventure Race Training

Perfect for Spring Challenge competitors, we spend day 1 orienteering and day 2 doing water-based training.

School Holiday Programmes

Peel Forest Outdoor Centre activities offerings for kids during the school holidays. Choose from a variety of activities or sign up for a whole week! Sign up for 5 days straight of adventure-based holiday programming or pick the activities and days you like!

River Safety and Rescue Training

We believe everyone should be equipped with basic river safety skills. Learn, upskill or get qualified to teach river safety and rescue. River rescue and safety training offered at different levels to suit students, workplaces, instructors.
