PEEL FOREST HOLIDAY PROGRAM January 2021

FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS -Wednesday 20th – Friday 22nd January, 9am – 3.30pm

Wednesday 20thRiver Adventure – Orari river (Students 8 years and above)    Cost: $30

We will spend the day at the Orari river swimming hole learning about water safety skills. This includes river crossing, features, strainer swimming, throw-bagging, swimming in the river and generally having fun on the water. Students will be geared up in 5mm wetsuits, along with helmets/lifejackets and splash jackets – but need to bring shoes that can get wet and a change of clothes. Always a fun action-packed day!!

Minimum numbers: 10 students, Maximum: 30 students

Transport will be made available daily from Geraldine meeting at Kennedy park gate by Geraldine High school. The bus will leave at 8.30am and arrive back at 4pm daily. It will be an additional charge of $5 per day for transportation per student. Alternatively, the students can meet at PFOC office base at 9am, and pick up at 3.30pm


Thursday 21stLow ropes, Cargo Net, Flying Fox (Students 10 years and above)
Cost: $40

Come have a go at some of the low ropes course team challenge activities – as well as get a chance to race each other on the Cargo net or attempt the huge flying fox. This day will be run at Geraldine High school so no transport is required – pick up and drop off from Kennedy Park. Minimum numbers: 10 students, Maximum: 30 students

Friday 22nd
Centennial Park Adventure Day – Timaru (Students 8 years and above) Cost: $40

Based at Centennial Park in Timaru we will run a rotation of adventure activities including flat water kayaking on the pond, orienteering around the park and some adventure-based learning activities.

FOR FAMILIES – Saturday 23rdRakaia Raft Trip (Students 8 years and above) Cost: $90

Great way to bond and have a shared experience with your child. Chance to raft the Rakaia gorge – viewing the unique rock formations along the way. You will learn some raft/kayak skills including paddle strokes and how to get on and off your raft. This is a grade 2 section which is a great journey and well suited for families.

Meeting us at Peel forest outdoor centre – Transport included.

Timeframes: 8am-4pm       Minimum numbers: 12 people

FOR ADULTS – Sunday 24thClimbing/Abseiling at Spur Road – Timaru          Cost: $60

Keen to have a go at climbing – this is your chance to learn how to belay and develop your confidence on the rock. We will also set up an abseil for you to try. For those of you that came last time – we will set up some new climbs for you to have a go at!Mimimum numbers: 6 people

Transport for this day will leave and return from Geraldine at Kennedy Park gate by Geraldine High school. The bus will leave at 8.30am and arrive back at 4pm daily. Transport is included in the price.
